Henry Sperle
Executive Vice President, Middle East and Asia
Henry Sperle was among the pioneers in establishing
the petrochemical industry in Norway from 1975-78.
From 1978 to 1983 he held a number of positions within
Saga's research and manufacturing management. Following Statoil's
acquisition of Saga in 1983, he continued in the polyolefins business in
various management positions within process technology and manufacturing,
including 2 years as MD of the Stenungsund cracker operations. In 1992 he
was appointed Vice President, Polyolefins.
Henry Sperle transferred to Borealis as Executive Vice President,
responsible for the polypropylene division, when Statoil co-founded the new
company in 1994.
Since the early days of Borealis he has been responsible
for Research & Development, including development of Borealis’
proprietary Borstar technology for PE and PP, and establishing Borouge in
the Middle East.
Today he is responsible for Borealis' strategic growth plans in the Middle
East and Asia by being located in Abu Dhabi his role is to assure that the
company’s expansion projects are successful. The most significant projects
are Borouge 2 in Ruwais, UAE and the high-pressure LDPE plant in
Stenungsund, Sweden.
Henry Sperle holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the
Norwegian Institute of Technology and a degree from the Business School of
Economics at Bergen.
