REACH information for Customers

Borealis is a member of several Consortia and is working with the Industry Federation, European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC), to define the use of  registered chemical substances under the REACH regulation and to ensure that these defined uses are workable for Industry.

Intended uses of a substance can be distinguished between industrial, professional and consumer use, and are aimed to be categorised further. Target of this categorisaton work is to group similar exposure scenarios into "use categories", which are intended to characterise the exposure during the uses of a substance. Exposure scenarios describe the exposure pathways throughout the life cycle of a substance. In this process different exposure routes, duration and frequency are the most important elements.

As soon as we have acceptable exposure scenarios that completely fulfill all requirements of REACH, we will inform our stakeholders on our website.

For our Polyolefins customers, we are working together with additive suppliers, CEFIC's sector group ELiSANA, PlasticsEurope and the European Plastics Converters Association (EuPC) to include the entire value chain in the process of creating exposure scenarios and defined uses of chemical substances for the manufacturing of plastic products.

For our Base Chemicals customers, we are joining chemical industry consortia together with several CEFIC sector groups such as LOSG, APA, EFMA, EMPAFormaCare and Phenol to prepare the registration of chemical substances.

Companies that are located in non-EU countries might have suppliers based in the European Union. As our aim is to continue delivery of our chemical products, we assure our customers that Borealis is compliant with the REACH obligations as a supplier.
