Sharing Our Views
Borealis' perspective on plastics industry issues
We are often asked about our views on sustainability issues, policies or new developments in the plastics industry. In addition to our approach to global challenges, Borealis is open to sharing its perspectives on some of the key topics of interest to our company and its stakeholders. Some of these issues include:
- Resources efficiency and waste management
- Littering and plastics bags
- Plastics made from renewable raw materials
- Chemicals and REACH
Borealis is committed to openly communicating its positions with all its stakeholders. We regularly update these perspective pages as new developments occur.
You can also share your feedback with us on our approach or directly ask questions on topics of interest to you.
Assessing the industry’s response to sustainability challenges
To set the ground for dialogue and partnerships, Borealis regularly conducts surveys on our customers' approach to economic, social or environmental sustainability issues.
The Borealis Sustainability Issues Monitor analyses how our direct partners in the value chain view the challenges facing the plastics industry today and how sustainbility issues are shaping business response. From the rising costs of energy to the perceived prevalence of plastic litter, we have explored quantitatively and qualitatively the concerns of the industry on these societal issues.
Undertaking this research reflects our commitment to the principle of Responsible Care to “expand dialogue with stakeholders to identify additional opportunities which contribute to sustainable development.”
The 2007 monitor suggests that resource efficiency issues - energy costs, waste and littering - dominate the agenda of the plastics industry and has triggered actions in the entire value chain. Borealis aims at leading an industry that embraces these challenges and is strengthened by proactive engagement.
