Borealis in France

Nitrogen-based fertilisers are an essential factor in the yield of crops, and in particular grains. Fertilisation, which is practiced for sustainability reasons, consists of providing the plant with the exact quantity of nitrogen that it needs when growing but without damaging the environment. Borealis Ottmarsheim (Borealis PEC-Rhin S.A.S.) produces ammonia and nitric acid, part of which is used internally as the raw materials for manufacturing fertiliser.

A different part of the ammonia and nitric acid is sold as industrial agents for use in the manufacture of synthetic fibres (adhesives, carpets, etc.) and high-performance technical plastics (automotive parts, rollers, IT equipment, hi-fi equipment, etc.).
