Resources too valuable to waste
In the past four years, investments and upgrade projects have transformed our infrastructure into one that is safer and more environmentally sound. In addition to adding additional capacity, Borealis saw a need to enhance and continue to update our mechanical systems. Two of our most recent projects focused on the potential loss of energy.
Are you aware that in a typical production facility, an estimated 40% of
air usage is lost through leaks? Following the recommendations of a recent
study, Borealis has eliminated many of these air leaks and has
modified our compressor cycling, thus increasing
reliability.
Our radiant heating system was also upgraded. Steam will remain necessary
in some areas, but by using smaller, more reliable and
efficient boilers, we reduce our gas, electricity and
water consumption, as well as limit the use of boiler
chemical requirements.
Borealis’ focus is on developing innovative solutions that add value to customers products. Furthermore, we are aware of our environmental and corporate responsibility to the community at large. Our role as a good citizen is paramount in this relationship.
