Lightweight plastics reduce greenhouse gas emissions

Keeping global warming under control is amongst the most crucial challenges the world is facing today. Although energy intensive in its production process, plastics make a key contribution to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, plastics prevent 5-9 times more CO2 during their use phase than emitted for their production. Furthermore without plastics, particularly polyolefins in packaging or automotives, 60% more carbon emissions would be emitted. Twice as many routes of transport would also be needed without plastics for the products and goods manufactured and used on a daily basis.
