Polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) material grades enable customers to run high line speeds
Borealis offers a number of innovative polyethylene
and polypropylene fibre grades that are used to create
strapping, tapes and
monofilaments.
These grades are used in a variety of applications in the packaging, agriculture, building and leisure industries including:
- Ropes and twines,
- FIBC’s,
- Carpet backing,
- Geotextiles,
- Artificial grass,
- Strapping,
- Bale wrapping,
- Fishing nets.
The outstanding feature of these products is superior strength, which producers can exploit for down-gauging purposes.
The polyethylene and polypropylene fibre grades offered by Borealis are characterised by a high level of product consistency. This enables the converter to run at high line speed while maintaining the same superior quality level.
Recommended product grades
Our range of polyethylene products for technical textile purposes includes:
- VL4580 is a narrow MWD HDPE grade especially designed for monofilament production.
- VL5580 is a narrow MWD HDPE grade especially designed for monofilament and cast film stretched tape production.
- VL4470 is a medium MW HDPE grade especially designed for stretched tape production based on blown film.
- VL9500 is a bi-component grade intended for use in non-woven applications. Specially designed for the skin layer of bi-component fibres, VL9500 typically adds up to 20% more strength to non-woven fibres. This new grade provides excellent softness and enhanced comfort to end-users. These features, in combination with reliable quality, make VL9500 well-suited to applications that require enhanced comfort such as incontinence and feminine care products.
