Bottles
Borealis offers eco-friendly polyolefins for packaging solutions produced through blow moulding processing techniques
Borealis offers the widest range of
high-density polyethylene (HDPE),
polypropylene random copolymers and homopolymer
grades for blow moulding applications. These materials are used to
produce bottles or bottle-like containers in a variety of
applications.
These include:
-
Household and chemical products (HIC)
-
Food product applications that require high protection and high quality such as dairy, ketchup, probiotic drinks and sauces
-
Cosmetic creams and shampoos
-
Intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) such as large drums
Flexibility in production techniques
The strength of the Borealis product line is its breadth. Each grade has been developed for a specific type of application. Moreover, Borealis offers grades that can be used with a variety of production techniques including Extrusion Blow Moulding and Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM).
Borealis' plastics materials for bottles are environmentally-friendly products made from potentially recycleable polyolefins and first class technical support.
Providing high clarity and easy processability
Our High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) grades, such as BS4641 MO, BS2581 MO, and BS2541 MO, are particularly suited for applications which require high stiffness and top load, such as organoleptic applications. End products which are best served with this material are:
-
detergent and chemical containers,
-
fruit juice and dairy bottles.
These materials increase both top loads and chemical resistance and have very low taste and odour and are also easy to process.
Our
polypropylene (PP) product grades, RB 206
MO, RB 307 MO, and RB 607 MO are
perfect for applications where transparency to view within the bottle is
required. These PP resins deliver clarity and
transparency, high stiffness and good impact and
temperature resistance. Further advantages of our PP
include:
-
Taste, odour and organoleptic behaviour,
-
Processability,
-
Processing window in the case of ISBM,
-
Very high top load,
-
Weight saving,
-
Recyclability.
Typical consumer goods which use this type of packaging material include personal hygiene products, detergents, and sauce containers.
Borclear RF 926 MO and Bormed 846 MO for ISBM
For converters using Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM), Borclear RF 926 MO and Bormed 846 MO are PP grades specially designed to give transparency similar to glass and provide high top load and stiffness. These materials have very good water vapour barriers to protect dry food and are perfect for engraving on the bottles. Due to the materials high processability and lower pressure, energy savings are also achieved. Additional benefits of Borclear RF 926 MO and Bormed 846 MO are:
-
Weight reduction due to density of PP,
-
Safety for the customers (no breakage like glass),
-
No Bisphenol A,
-
Sterilisability,
-
Hot filling possible with the grades,
-
Very good organoleptic,
-
High productivity of the lines,
-
No drying of the material before blowing,
-
Suitable for oxygen barrier solutions.
