Melamine

Borealis produces high quality melamine, a white crystalline powder made from urea. Our melamine is traded under the name AMI Melamine and has an organic base with a chemical formula of  C₃H ₆N₆ and an IUPAC name of 1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triamine.

The majority of our melamine is used to produce melamine-formaldehyde (MF)and melamine-urea-formaldehyde (MUF) resins. A small part of our production is used in crystal form as a flame retardant in soft polyurethane (PU) foams.

Why AMI Melamine?

AMI Melamine is the most valuable and sophisticated product in the nitrogen chain. This chemical compound is mainly processed as a resin and delivers:
