Front Grill Carrier

Borealis produces a special line of polypropylene (PP) compounds that bring a number of advantages to the production of front grill carriers.

Following the same trend of lightweight vehicles, heavyweight components and parts require the use of materials that provide weight savings without compromising the durability and performance of the vehicle.

Added to these performance issues, truck manufacturers must also cope with increasing cost pressures that force the industry to reduce development times and production process complexity, while boosting productivity and maintaining performance .

In addition, automotive manufacturers want their vehicles to be lighter and more energy efficient.

TPO compounds that live up to the challenge

Our Nepol GB303HP polypropylene compounds enable heavyweight vehicle manufacturers to produce front grill carriers that are:

Lower in density,
maximize the potential for downgauging of wall thickness,
offer better CLTE.

In addition, we work in close co-operation with the OEM and Tier 1 and can offer state-of-the-art CAED engineering support.

Exterior Fascia

To reduce complexity and costs in the production of the exterior fascia, automotive manufacturers prefer cost-efficient, environmentally friendly materials that can be used in a streamlined conversion process without affecting design or functionality .

In addition, the exterior fascia should maintain a smooth, high quality surface appearance.

Eco-friendly materials that optimise weight savings

For heavyweight vehicles, Borealis has developed a polypropylene (PP) solution that outperforms Sheet Moulding Compounds (SMC).

Our Daplen™ for heavy weight vehicle fascia offers:

An all-PP solution that is environmentally friendly solution,
Lower density, providing a weight saving of 35 %,
Significant improvement in flowability,
Lower material cost,
Lower CLTE,
Competitive mechanical properties,
Lean production,
Scrap rate only 1 %.

In addition, we work in close co-operation with the OEM and Tier 1 and can offer state-of-the-art engineering support for the fascia.

Mud Guards

Mud guards are frequently made by rotational moulding as it allows for the easy integration of fixation points (inserts) in order to mount the mud guards to the chassis.

In rotational moulding, the shallowest moulds in the industry are used for the production of mud guards. Therefore, to satisfy the producers of mud guards, the material needs to have:

High flow,
High mechanical strength,
Controlled particle size distribution.

Unique solutions to complex requirements

Our Borecene™ line of powders are well-suited for the production of heavy weight vehicle mud guards. These materials meets these requirements and consequently has been the material of choice for several years.
