Borealis wins 2006 Best Supply Chain Project award in Belgium

23.10.2006

Borealis has been awarded the 2006 Best Supply Chain Project by three Belgian procurement associations. The award – presented at the Royal Museum of Art and History in Brussels on October 4, 2006 – recognised a Borealis procurement project for its innovation, collaborative vision and the sustainability of its benefits.

"Using SCOR in a Real Collaborative Sourcing Scenario" – a project aimed at improving and consolidating a Borealis/Degussa procurement partnership - optimised the supply chain and led to both companies extending a strategic partnership for the innovation of products and processes. SCOR is a process reference model that has been developed and endorsed by the Supply-Chain Council as the cross-industry standard diagnostic tool for supply-chain management. The award jury - made up of academics, consultants, and supply chain executives from various companies – chose Borealis ahead of three other close contenders for the award - NIKE (sportsware), Alstom (TGV and trains) and Europal (packaging). The aim of the Belgian procurement associations organising the awards – the Flemish-speaking Purchasing and Logistics Association (VIB), its French-speaking counterpart (ABCAL) and the European Production Inventory Control Society (PICS) –  is to encourage companies to invest in projects that increase efficiency and profitability of supply chains. Special emphasis is placed on innovative and integrated solutions involving purchasing and company logistics.

“I would like to thank everyone in Borealis who has contributed, and in particular, our project leaders, Marc Foret from Borealis and Markus Schultz from Degussa”, said Nando Galazzo, Vice President of Procurement at Borealis.
