Borealis highlights cabling innovations at Wire Russia 2007
28.03.2007
Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value-creating plastic solution, will showcase state-of-the-art polyolefin solutions to visitors of Wire Russia 2007, from May 28-31, 2007 in Moscow, Russia (Krasnaya Presnya Exhibition Centre, Hall 1, Stand E05). The company’s presence reflects its commitment to support the development of Russian energy and communication cable infrastructure.
Together with Borouge, a joint venture between Borealis and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company in the Middle East, the company will focus on technically advanced and innovative solutions that offer cable manufacturers and end-users greater productivity and longer service life. Borealis aims to provide optimal plastics, keeping manufacturers competitive and ensuring end users receive the best quality cables for distribution of energy and communication.
The latest additions to its Supercure™ product range will be presented on the stand, alongside the Borealis’ complete line of wire and cable solutions.
- Communication cable insulation: Borcell™ cellular materials for radio frequency cables achieve lower signal attenuation than has been possible with previous materials. The compounds show excellent foaming in the gas injection extrusion process and offer a broad operating window enabling use in a variety of radio frequency (RF) cable designs.
- Power cable insulation: Supercure LC8205 crosslinked polyethylene cable insulation brings the best electrical cable performance combined with the productivity benefits of the Supercure technology, enabling cable manufacturers to achieve increased throughput of superior quality cables.
- Low voltage insulation technology: The Visico/Ambicat™ reactor made copolymer and tin free catalyst system for low voltage cable insulation requires no separate curing operation and crosslinking takes place in a fraction of the time required by other materials. The inclusion of a scorch retardant additive allows cable makers to benefit from reduced downtime and increased productivity. Additionally, the consistent quality of the product and the simplified cable production process significantly reduces costs and saves energy.
These products are produced in Borealis plants located in Finland and
Sweden. This proximity offers logistical advantages for Russian customers
who can be served directly by rail or road.
Michael Bjørn, Marketing Manager of Borealis’ wire and cable business, comments: “The Russian market is faced with increasing demand for XLPE insulated power cables. This demand is generated by growth of the electricity networks following a boost in the general economic activity but also by the need to replace old and unreliable cables. We welcome the opportunity presented by Wire Russia to meet our customers in this dynamic market and to showcase our solutions that are adapted to their needs.”
Borealis has more than 40 years of experience in providing high-quality polyolefin compounds to the Wire & Cable market.
