Borealis announces changes in its distribution partnerships for automotive materials

29.10.2009

Borealis, a leading provider of chemical and innovative plastics solutions, reduces the number of distribution partnerships for its automotive materials and will terminate the distribution agreement with Resinex at the end of 2009. Customers will be able to obtain the full range of Borealis' automotive products through Ashland Distribution.

"This step is necessary to reduce the complexity of driving two distribution partners within the same product portfolio," comments Harald Hammer, Vice President of Borealis' business unit Mobility. "More importantly, it will enable us to preserve best service for our small and medium-end customers despite the current crisis-related drop in sales volumes via distribution channels."

Ashland Distribution, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc., is a leading distributor of thermoplastics to the automotive industry, including commodity and engineered thermoplastic materials to meet specific automotive applications. Ashland Distribution has supported Borealis since 1996, distributing Borealis' polyethylene and polypropylene solutions to more than 3,000 customers throughout Europe in the automotive, advanced packaging and infrastructure sectors.
