Borealis and Borouge exhibit their wire and cable solutions at Wire China 2010

22.09.2010

Visitors to Wire China 2010 can experience first-hand why wire and cable manufacturers across the globe are choosing advanced insulation, semi-conductive and jacketing materials from Borealis and its joint-venture Borouge, leading providers of innovative, value creating plastics solutions for the wire and cable industry.

In addition to their stand at the exhibition, Borealis and Borouge will be presenting at the adjacent SECRI conference in Shanghai on September 22 and promoting their complete solution for enhanced performance medium voltage cable systems. In addition, they will be proving their superior track record for cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) solutions in the power cables segment, particularly in the high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable market.

Borealis and Borouge commit to the increasing global demand for XLPE through their current and future investments. Borealis’ high pressure LDPE (low density polyethylene) plant in Sweden was officially inaugurated in June 2010 and a similar plant producing 350,000 tonnes of LDPE per year will be built in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, as part of the Borouge 3 expansion project. This investment in LDPE production planned for the end of 2013 spearheads Borouge’s ability to also manufacture innovative XLPE solutions for the global wire and cable market.

At Wire China 2010, both companies will present a number of customer projects that demonstrate the benefits of their Supercure™ and Superclean™ insulation and Supersmooth™ semiconductor XLPE compounds, and Borstar® high density PE (HDPE) for jacketing. In combination, the materials offer superior cleanliness, consistent electrical performance and protection from environmental factors to assure continuous and high level cable performance of the power supply network.

“Cable durability is especially important for those customers serving the high voltage cable market where the need for cables that deliver consistent, high performance under extreme electrical stresses is crucial,” comments Michael Bjorn, Borouge’s Vice President for Wire and Cable. “Also, we are excited about the addition of XLPE production capacity at our polyolefins plant in the Middle East which will allow us to satisfy even more the growing global customer demand for wire and cable products.”
