The N. American Hot & Cold Water market for Plastic Pipe Systems (plumbing, heating & air conditioning in residential, commercial and industrial applications) is booming, driven by construction growth and rapid substitution of copper and steel. Due to the fast expanding PE-X pipe market and very high future growth potential in PP-RCT pipe, it is seen as a strategic growth opportunity for Borealis and part of leveraging our world leading resin product mix and global customer partnerships to N. America. Significant progress has been made in standardisation, product listing and value chain understanding in recent years and we are now entering the exciting ‘business building’ phase, especially for the local pioneering of PP-RCT products. We are seeking for a respected, seasoned technical / commercial professional to strengthen our Pipe team and help drive the growth of PE-X and PP-RCT Pipe systems in the market.


This is a remote position.

Key Business Responsibilities

  • Acting as a member of the Pipe marketing team, the role holder leads the business development process for the local N. American growth of PE-X (peroxide and radiation cross linked) and PP-RCT Pipe resins based on hot & cold water market understanding and needs
  • Establish a trusted and respected speaking partner position in the hot and cold water pipe industry with customers identified external key value chain  stakeholders
  • Adapt/develop and  communicate winning value proposition by segment/subregion with a focus on local value chain decision makers such as designer engineers and builders& installers
  • Develop and implement local launch strategy in close cooperation with European Application Marketing Team
  • Translate market feedback into polymer modifications towards the product development team and give input to future innovations
  • Coordinate together with Application Marketing Managers strategic goals, value chain focus areas and prioritization of local promotion activities
  • Support sales manager in generating profitable business at existing and new customers through value chain pull and joint promotion towards identified value chain stakeholders
  • Design local promotion toolbox together with Application Marketing Manager, Marketing Communications and local expert partners (eg University or consultant for independent studies)
  • Contribute to standardization and plumbing code development and updating activities in the industry
  • Contribute to an optimization of local sales pan together with Sales Manager, local ADTS Engineer and Application Marketing Manager and support that targets are met
  • Closely communicate and report on relevant local market activities, achievements, gaps, challenges and future opportunities
  • Drives the launch and implementation of new products and applications into the market and ensures successful and efficient handover to Sales Manager and ADTS


  • Develops liaisons with key players in the value chain, positioning themselves as an industry expert in their field with a major impact on various players in the industry
  • Draws on an established network of influencers across the whole value chain in order to develop the image of Borealis and effectively drive the segment’s future growth and attractiveness
  • Acts both externally and internally as a speaker, expert or contributor due to their broad experience and knowledge of their defined business segment
  • Forges Industry alliances to maximize promotion impact in the value chain (eg Association work)
  • Participate as proactive member in internal meetings with eg Pipe Management Team, Application Marketing Team to ensure the right customer, product, promotion and innovation mix in consideration of local N. American market needs and trends
  • Constantly challenge working methods to ensure efficiency gains
  • Extensive local and regular international travel required

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Academic technical degree or equivalent through experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Pipe or similar Industry, preferably from relevant value chain (plumbing/heating system supplier, designer, installer, end user)
  • Ability to build up detailed technical understanding required to develop & explain value proposition
  • Experience (ideally track record) in being in contact with customers and other value chain players
  • High thinking and acting along business lines with high understanding of value-creation
  • High internal and external communication and presentation skills
