For our location Linz we are currently looking for a Category Manager (m/f) for Subcontracting.

The role holder ensures the global sourcing of portfolio on behalf of all Borealis group, at the lowest Total Cost of Ownership for the group (including quality conformance, supply delivery accuracy, inventory turnover, life cycle cost, etc ). Our category manager captures and implements new best practices on the market in terms of total cost performance improvement and supply security. In concrete you manage the supplier relationship and especially deal with the complex relationship for tolling: Borealis is organizing all the deliveries of raw materials needed for the production at the toller – dedicated planners are located in Sweden for tolling activities and this work needs to be coordinated by the buyer. Volumes are going up and down very fast and this needs to be closely managed as the category manager is more or less contracting “external production capacity” – involvement from procurement in the business planning is a critical success factor as tollers are making finished goods.

We expect you to

  • work in close cooperation with business, supply chain and operational excellence on Borealis compounding strategy
  • influence our existing suppliers in regards of new investments for additional production capacities
  • be the primary commercial interface to toll compounding partners globally
  • seek out new tollers/screen and manage their qualification (together with product management)
  • have the full contract responsibilities
  • take proactive initiative in respect of establishing additional subcontractors for global expansion projects: new regions (Asia, USA, Russia) and new business
  • drive the digitalisation to a closer link with our subcontractors in respect of e-data exchange (planning, orders and process data, QM data etc.)

Skills, education and experience:

  • master degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Economics or Business
  • fluent verbal and written command of English (at business level) and German
  • 5-10 years experience within procurement, sourcing of chemicals or technical equipment/services, and/or commercial management in Borealis or equivalent industry
  • good technical knowledge related to assigned portfolio and basic supply chain knowledge
  • demonstrated proficiency to negotiate commercial deals, proven project management skills and knowledge of legal procurement contracting
  • good team working and communication skills, analytical, tactical and strategically thinking

Further information:

Following Austrian law regulations we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 59.156,16 annual gross salary and are willing to pay considerably more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
