You take the responsibility of being a dedicated Innovation Accelerator in your field while making the difference in the future of Borealis. We give you the empowerment and tools to create innovative circular solutions for our customers.

Your role

As Feedstock Expert, you will be responsible to ensure know-how on the full technical feedstock landscape for all plastic recycling aspects. Feedstock for Borealis are Polyolefin post-consumer and post-industrial waste streams including pre-processed waste (e.g. pre-sorted and pre-shredded). It is your role to work on:

  • Feedstock standardisation and trends in standardisation
  • Technology and trends at sorters and resulting available feedstock qualities
  • Feedstock evaluation and quality ensurance including ingoing QC approach
  • Understanding the impact of the feedstock quality on the process requirements and recyclate quality / yield (in close cooperation with our technology experts)
  • Translate technology boundaries (mechanical, solvent based and chemical) into feedstock requirements


It will be your responsibility to:

  • Plan, organise and lead in- and external analysis and experimental work related to feedstock
  • Develop systematic evaluation processes for recycled feedstock
  • Develop and maintain competence in the area of Feedstock (feedstock evaluation, feedstock quality, feedstock standards etc.) and sorting technologies
  • Identify and develop emerging feedstock sources
  • Develop strong network towards standardisation as well as waste management companies
  • Act as key point of contact for Feedstock business account manager
  • Serve as key point of contact for feedstock related topics towards technology as well as product development teams and our existent as well as future assets
  • Act as team member in agile innovation projects
  • Support long-term strategy work for sustainable feedstock


Your profile

To complement our team, we are looking for someone who can bring the following to the table:

  • University degree (master or equivalent) with a major in waste management and recycling, technical chemistry or chemical engineering
  • Experience within the waste and recycling sector understanding the dynamics of the market, its influencers and competition
  • Experience working agile and within cross functional teams enjoying working with others to solve problems and share knowledge
  • Clear communicator on technical progress to non-technical stakeholders and management
  • Good networking skills, motivated to spend time at existing and future Borealis assets
  • Passion that goes beyond your feedstock expertise, you are interested in what makes the circular world tick and how you can make an impact on it
  • You balance logical problem solving with innovative thinking

Following Austrian law regulations and reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, we offer a competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 61.168,- annual gross salary and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, you can expect a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
