In order to further strengthen Borealis’ expertise on Advanced Polymer Characterisation; Borealis’ Innotech Operational Support Group is looking for an Expert Mechanical & Application Testing, who is part of the Advanced Polymer Characterization Group at our Innovation Centre Linz, Austria. The primary purpose of this role owner is to ensure and to maintain the highest scientific level on polymer characterisation competence in the specific field of responsibility – Mechanical & Application Testing. To ensure a step change in innovation in accordance with the business strategy of the company, the expert is expected to possess state of the art knowledge and in-depth understanding on Mechanical & Application testing of polyolefins.

Contribution

  • Translate business and R&D needs into novel “state of the art” methods for mechanical and application testing of polyolefins
  • Actively consult/support R&D Labs, QC Labs, Plants and External Customers
  • Build-up/maintain internal and external networks/cooperations in his/her area of expertise

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • PhD in Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Polymer Processing and at least 5 years of experience on Mechanical Characterisation & Application Testing of Polyolefins
  • Excellent knowledge on tensile, impact, flexural, creep testing and fracture mechanics
  • Knowledge on general application testing methods for Mobility, Pipe, Film & Fibre, Wire & Cable and Moulding
  • Established and maintained relevant external partnerships and networks with industry leaders and leading universities on the area of Mechanical Testing.
  • Has published publications/patents within the field of Mechanical Characterisation and Application Testing
  • Possesses solid knowledge on IT, Data Analysis and Statistics

We offer a competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement, reflecting your competencies and experience, starting at EUR 59.156,16 annual gross salary and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
