The primary purpose of this the Group Expert, located in Linz, is to drive the circular economy solutions technology development for Borealis to leading edge, in accordance with the business and innovation strategy. The holder of this role needs to be able to make the links between groundbreaking research and Borealis´ commercial drivers in order to secure our technology leadership position by developing a broad intellectual property base.

Your main areas of responsibility include amongst others:

  • Demonstrate leadership in translating technical concepts into valuable products for internal and external customers by integrating knowledge / solutions from different functions (e.g. Operations, technical development, engineering, marketing, etc.)
  • Responsible for research and technology development in line with our innovation objectives.
  • Successful driver of innovations in your own area of expertise and support of innovations in adjacent areas. Support of Intellectual Property work and technical teams (incl. acting as technical expert in IPR litigations).
  • Compilation of a portfolio of external co-operations to support the further development of the competence of Borealis. Evaluation of new technology trends in your own area of expertise and provision of conclusions and recommendation for follow-up actions.
  • Proactive leadership in driving HSE&Q standards of Borealis
  • Support of M&A processes in the area of recycling

You are the right candidate for this position if you possess the following experience, knowledge and skills:

  • Academic technical degree (PhD, Masters education in relevant field or equivalent through experience)
  • Recycling technology, Process & Chemical engineering education or mechanical Engineering
  • Broad knowledge of chemical engineering principles applied to various processes
  • Hands-on experience with process technology feasibility & economic evaluation
  • Extensive external network within area of expertise
  • Fluency in German and English (written and oral)

One or more of the following experiences is seen as plus:

  • Experience in the area of waste management and sorting
  • Understanding of printing inks & printing processes in plastics packaging
  • Colorants & adhesives in packaging
  • Plastics recycling industry
  • Solution processes for polymer production, pyrolysis / gasification of plastics

Other information:

Following Austrian law regulations we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at around EUR 59.156,16 annual gross salary and are willing to pay considerably more, depending on your experience and fit with the profile. In addition we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
