In order to further develop Borealis analytical expertise, our R&D Innotech Operational Support (IOS) in Linz (Austria) is looking for a Laboratory Technician in Polymer Analytic, and more specifically in Spectroscopy techniques (IR, Raman and NMR)

The work mainly consists of the development and performance of analytical tests in the field of polymer chemistry according to relevant internal and international norms for characterisation of chemical and physical properties of polyolefin. Further, the laboratory technician should act as analytical interface to our development and research departments in order to increase the analytical scientific support.

Your tasks 

  • Characterisation of polymers by analytical tests on existing or new analytical instruments
  • Proactively and timely initiate development of new methods and analytical techniques based on customer needs
  • Conclusion support to customers about analytical results to resolve technical problems related to their development targets
  • Performance of analysis and interpretation as well as the documentation of the results
  • Ensuring the operational reliability of analytical devices
  • Quality relevant periodical calibration of the instruments
  • Issue of standards, norms and methods
  • Elaboration of work instructions according to QS-relevant procedures
  • Respect of safety and proactive contribution in the laboratories

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Education as a chemistry technician, engineer or similar
  • Excellent knowledge about analytical characterization techniques, and more specifically Spectroscopy techniques (IR, Raman and NMR)
  • Good knowledge about polyolefin structures and properties
  • At least 2 years experience in laboratory work
  • Good communication skills and fluency in German and English
  • Excellent IT-skills (MS-office)

This is a full-time position for our location in Linz, Austria. Following Austrian law regulations we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 35.235,20 annual gross salary and are willing to pay considerably more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
