Do you have a master degree in engineering and experience in plastics/petrochemical production, engineering or logistics environment? Do you also have a drive to constantly develop and improve, are communicative and want to work in a growing multinational company – then you can be the one we are looking for!

As Logistics Engineer you will be part of a team of engineers located in different Borealis locations in Europe, responsible for carrying out studies for investment in Material Flow (MAFO) assets, which refers to all equipment used in materials handling for packing, storage and a smooth supply chain execution. You will need to identify and define improvement proposals and prepare the business cases for investments in MAFO assets or for improvements in packaging material specifications. As such it will be important to manage the interfaces with procurement, the local MAFO operation and the local Engineering and Maintenance department.

As logistics engineer you have a focus on long-term developments with the aim to make step change improvements, with a good understanding of market and technology developments. You will support customers, local MAFO organisations or investigation teams wherever a contribution can be made in the supply chain.

We are now looking for two logistics engineers with preferred location of Stenungsund or Antwerp.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Ensures, in the most effective way, the use and development of Material Flow technical processes and equipment on a group wide level by continuously evaluating and benchmarking for opportunities and possible improvements
  • Supports Material Flow organisations to achieve a highly competitive and customer orientated part of the Supply Chain
  • Takes initiatives to identify, propose and implement improvements and investment projects for Material Hang processes and systems in order to optimise resources and efficiency
  • Responsible for execution of studies and investment projects in Material Flow and Supply Chain area taking into account cost-savings analyses, “best available technologies” as well as the needs and means to communicate this with the rest of the organisation
  • Issues specifications for logistics assets in Material Flow and Supply Chain area
  • Follows up new projects and acts as focal point for engineering service providers
  • Leads small investment projects in execution phase and maintains interfaces to relevant stakeholders
  • Executes and coordinates performance and approval tests for new equipment in Material Flow and Supply Chain area
  • Evaluates new developments for packaging materials on the market and optimizes packaging solutions
  • Supports Logistics Procurement in technical issues and tendering processes
  • Is responsible for setting up test runs for new packaging materials
  • Assures justified packaging material harmonisation across locations
  • Issues and maintains packaging material specifications
  • Will constantly keep the HSE guidelines, rules and procedures in mind and will react on problems or behaviours that are not conforming the HSE policy

Profile and Background

  • Master in engineering (process, mechanical, electrical or logistics) or equivalent by solid experience
  • Mastery of English at business level
  • Preferably 3-5 years’ experience in plastics/petrochemical production, engineering or logistics environment
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Balance of conceptual, analytical and implementation skills, hands-on mentality
  • Recognised for being communicating, dialogue engaging, inspiring, motivating and setting direction for others within a multicultural environment
  • Achievement/result orientation
  • Eagerness to learn and step into unknown areas

Other information

One of the positions will mainly drive investments in the Stenungsund location so you should preferably live close to Stenungsund and speak Swedish. Focus of this position will be to support the local Material Flow organisation and drive investments needed in the material flow assets in Stenungsund.

The other position will focus more to drive developments in the packaging area for our customers in the energy segment. Focus of this position will be to support our marketing and sales organisation, which can include driving investments in different locations as well. Main focus for the packaging support will be in the energy segment, where Antwerp and Stenungsund are the main locations where we produce products for this segment.
