Operations Manager

Position Summary:

The position is a core role in the Kallo/Antwerp Operations organization and is responsible of delivering highest safety standards and highest possible performance of local polyolefin plants. As a part of the Leadership Team the role contributes to local decision making process, target setting and implementation of OPS strategy. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures highest standards in terms of plant performance (safety, quality, profitability and reliability) within the polyolefin units
  • Ensures that plants are run and report according to national HSE laws and regulations and Borealis HSE Management System
  • Ensures that plant organizations are prepared to handle emergency situations
  • Leads the local operations polyolefin management team to assure flawless implementation of the operations improvement portfolio
  • Actively coaches and supports local plant managers/POT Teams

Leadership Qualities:

  • Fosters and continuously improves the safety and profitability mind-set within his and the broader local organization
  • Manages the annual people calendar (performance management, people day, people survey, etc…)
  • Drives competence development of plant operations staff


  • Is an active member of the Local Leadership Team
  • Close co-operation with local HSE manager in order to assure line and employee responsibility in HSE matters
  • Close co-operation with Performance Managers to assure local operations excellence and knowledge sharing
  • Close co-operation with plant availability and planning in order to assure delivery reliability
  • Represents Borealis outside in the local industrial environment or towards authorities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field is essential. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 15 years operations experience in large organization with progressive career growth
  • Strong leadership background with ability to motivate individuals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of industry, suppliers, customers,
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of  manufacturing
  • Recognised for successful manage of change, monitoring complexity , diversity and risks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis (operational, social)
  • Proven ability to implement strategic action plans
  • Ability to interact with local press   
  • Mastery of English at business level
