Would you like to work in a forward-looking role that gives you a great opportunity to make a difference?  We are looking for a Process Engineer for our R&D organisation.  

In this position you will take part in process development, scale-up and implementation of new concepts for Borealis’ technologies. You will actively work together with other research and operational support groups in Borealis. In addition to your scientific contribution, you will be a team player who co-operates with colleagues in an international environment and takes responsibility for safety issues. In this role you will be located in Porvoo, Finland.

You will be part of Process Technology group which is an integral part of our R&D organisation. It covers basic research and development of Borealis’ own proprietary Borstar® Polyolefins technologies as well as Borealis Sirius Catalyst Technology.


It is your role to:

  • Develop new process concepts in line with innovation objectives
  • Be proactive in finding novel process solutions
  • Act as an expert in fundamental process issues
  • Lead & participate in innovation projects to implement new process concepts from laboratory scale via pilot plants to full scale plants
  • Develop and utilize scale-up knowledge as key tools for process development
  • Contribute in IPR & related issues
  • Contribute to improve health, safety, environment and quality performance

Do you believe we can improve our future by exploring new possibilities and pushing the boundaries beyond the already established?  Then we are curious to meet you. To start your journey as a new Process Engineer within Borealis, we expect you to have a Master’s degree or Ph.D. (polymer chemistry, material science, chemical engineering) and around 5 years of relevant work experience. Polyolefin reaction engineering and simulation (e.g. AspenTech) skills and polyolefin knowledge (PE, PP) are crucial in this role. Knowledge in the area of Design of Experiments and statistical data analysis is an advantage.

It is a big plus if you have an “engineering mindset” and some experience from polyolefin production.  In addition, fluent spoken and written English, basic project management skills and networking skills are an advantage. We wish you to be an achievement-oriented and innovative person who has strong motivation to co-operate successfully with others in a team. Your proactive style of working includes a strong focus on HSE and Quality issues.
