Role Purpose:

The role holder is a   professional with command of diverse practices in applications and complex   concepts and principles in Automotive product design and end use performance.   This knowledge is acquired through deep and/or broad experience typically   combined with an academic/ professional qualification. This person is well   recognized within the industry as expert in the given application and   technology field. Executing product management activities for defined   portfolio/segment.

The primary purpose of this   role is to secure and support running business, and build upon current   automotive portfolio based on TPO’s.  The   following experience is required:

  •   Expertise in mineral / short glass fibre   filled polyolefin compounds for Interior and Exterior automotive application.  Well   versed with thermoplastic resins and their formulations, including high   performance engineering resins, TPE, TPOs, functional additives, stabilizers   packages, flow enhancing additives, pigments and mineral based fillers
  •   Understanding of OEM specifications and   approval processes
  •   Expertise in liaising   with cross-functional teams, production/QA, marketing/sales for   diversification of existing portfolio, cost reduction efforts, competitive   use of emerging technologies and resolving internal or customer-end issues   and concerns
  •   Understanding of all the   elements of commercial product development including scale up, production   scale compounding, formulation & grade development, materials management,   etc.
  •   Ability to optimize Cost & Complexity of defined product portfolio  and define improvement actions
  •   
  • Setting the general quality standards for commercial products.
  •   
  • Capable to provide  technical support in customer and supplier Quality audits
  •   
  • Capable to provide technical expertise internally, e.g., for trouble shooting in production, value chain marketing projects, as well as for external presentations and industrial state-of-the-art training of internal engineers.
  •   
  • Ability to lead technical investigation and decide on justification of product claims
  •   
  • Expertise in identification and implementation of incremental product modifications to improve product performance, reduce product cost, improve product quality or change asset source

Contribute to ensure current and future product portfolio by:

      
  • Proactive contribution to product portfolio optimisation.
  •   
  • Lead technical implementation of new products & production technology enhancements
  •   
  • Propose and evaluate ideas and run technical pre-studies for defined market needs.
  •   
  • Contribute to IPR strategy in relevant area.
  •   
  • Additionally the role holder can act as Innovation Project team member for step change projects, when requested.
  •   
  • Translate customer - and application – needs and related product- requirement into product-/process- specifications.

Area of responsibility:

      
  • Product Ownership:
  •   
  • Contribute to Cost & Complexity optimization of defined product portfolio and define improvement actions
  •   
  • Ownership of Internal Product Specifications (IPS) and/or External Product Specifications (EPS).
  •   
  • Ensure legal compliance of relevant products incl. HSE check (e.g. commodity codes, REACH, standards/specifications etc.)
  •   
  • Responsible for technical content of Product Data Sheets (PDS) and Technical Base Specifications (TBS).
  •   
  • Suggest, evaluate and technically approve new or improved sourcing
  •   
  • Define quality standards  for commercial products.
  •   
  • Technical lead of initiatives for product or production problem solving and quality improvement.
  •   
  • Support strategic sourcing initiatives for cost reductions
  •   
  • Involvement in approval process of raw materials
  •   
  • Classify and place non-FTR materials and slow movers for defined product slate on the market together with Sales and Technical Service.
  •   
  • Suggest and implement different packaging options.
  •   
  • Product ownership & production technology
  •   
  • Explore capabilities and limitations of own products, understand links between product design, manufacturing technology, processing and end-use application.
  •   
  • Provide evidence for technical justification of product claims
  •   
  • Lead product related test run preparation and execution
  •   
  • Contribute to competitor benchmarking to support value proposition with screening of knowledge of competitor technology (processes, products, patents) and costs.
  •   
  • Lead technical part of initiatives, e.g. projects to improve working processes, quality improvement projects, cost reduction projects, strategic raw material projects, etc.
  •   
  • Monitor raw material quality, supplier performance and variable cost positions, propose and support corrective, improvement and cost saving actions and manage changes

Product modifications and   application development:

      
  • Lead technical part of product modifications to upgrade existing products to meet market needs/specs or production needs (i.e. incremental developments, = using existing technology tools)
  •   
  • Translate customer - and application – needs and related product- requirement into product-/process- specifications.

Product/process development and   IPR

      
  • Participate on request in IP innovation projects
  •   
  • Lead product related test run preparation and execution for new products
  •   
  • Support market introductions of new products.
  •   
  • Contribute to oppositions, appeals and enforcement actions.
  •   
  • Contribute to overall HSE&Q performance keeping high HSE&Q standards.
  •   
  • Secure HSE checks for Test runs and new products done and documented according to procedures.

People

      
  • Lead product management initiatives and project teams.

Customer

      
  • Contacts with customers to understand market requirements and how our materials are used.
  •   
  • Lead investigation team (or technical part of it) for product complaints and claims, suggest actions to avoid reoccurrence, give feedback to rest of organisation.
  •   
  • Give technical support to Customers
  •   
  • Participate & support in product/production audits from customers/end users
  •   
  • Support technical part in product/production audits from authorities/ national bodies.
