Production Manager – Dehydrogenation Unit (m/f)



Role Purpose:

  • The role holder is final accountable for the assigned production process.
  • The role holder is responsible to produce safely the planned production volume at the right quality in the most cost-efficient way.
  • The role holder is responsible for the continuous improvement of the production unit including focus on operating permit, energy efficiency and HSE&Q.
  • Furthermore he/she is responsible for leading and developing the organization.



Delivers operational excellence

  • Delivers the objectives and KPI of the plant with continuous improvement approach:
    • Planning: Ensures that a department action plan is made to reach these objectives (use platforms)
    • Doing: Ensures that the necessary lessons are always drawn from incidents (HSE incidents, complaints, operability,…) by the implementation of a root cause analysis
    • Checking: Watches the progress of the action plan. Reports the plant performance
    • Adjusting: Adjusts the plan when measures are not effective
    • Communicating: Ensures that each team member knows these objectives and results, so that everyone can contribute in reaching these objectives


Develops People

  • Coaches & inspires and ensures development plan is identified and implemented
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient organization of the work and overall prioritization of activities

 Guarantees operating permit

  • Ensures that all procedures and work instructions in the department are in place, known and followed
  • Ensures that the plant is operated in accordance with the obligations out of the operating permit
  • Acts as a crisis manager for the plant

 Secures compliance to Group Policies

  • Secures compliance with group policies, procedures, instructions, ethics and values by checking, defining and implementing corrective actions to avoid damage to people, fixed assets or the environment.

 Steers asset development

  • Steers allocated asset development projects (small size)
  • Addresses profit improvement and asset development opportunities for the plant

 Manages critical peers’ interfaces

  • Plant Availability, Technical Development & Engineering, Business Unit Hydrocarbons and Energy and Innovation team
  • Represents employer in consultative committees with unions
  • Supports other functions/locations
    • Utilities, SUB committees, project and workgroup facilitation, location synergies/contracts
  • International and local networks / interfaces such as: Underground pipeline network, Hydrocarbon production managers meetings, Project meetings


The profile:

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Master’s degree from acknowledged university, or equivalent
  • Min. 5-10 years’ experience in Production or other relevant experience
  • Mastery of English at business level
  • Mastery of relevant IT and simulation tools if relevant
  • Understanding of the petrochemical industry, suppliers, customers
  • Recognised for having excellent people skills, coaching and feedback, adjusting when necessary and creating a winning team culture
  • Recognised for being dialogue engaging, inspiring, motivating and setting direction for others within a multicultural environment
  • Driver / Challenger
