Do you have an appropriate academic background and are passionate about polymer processing and compounding? Do you also have excellent problem solving ability, high ambitions and drive, and want to work in a growing multinational company – then you can be the one we are looking for!

The purpose of the role is to develop novel polymers and polymer compounds targeting mainly energy & infrastructure applications. Working in international, cross-functional teams you will be involved in all aspects of research activities and product development; project management, polymer design and production, to enable step-change innovations and value creation.

Your responsibilities

  • Perform R&D work to develop new polymers and compounds with emphasis on polymer processing and compounding
  • Translate market requirements into polymer properties, especially for low density polyethylene compounds
  • Interaction with production plants including optimization of polymer compositions
  • Initiate and support patenting of new polymers, compounds and products
  • Establish continuous interfaces with internal and external customers/suppliers in order to optimize development and utilization of own expertise
  • Act and work according to Borealis values

Knowledge and skills

  • MSc or PhD degree in chemistry, physics, material science or equivalent
  • Polymer processing and compounding
  • Industrial production processes of polymers and compounds including upscaling
  • Relations between structure, processing and properties of polymer compositions
  • Experimental design skills
  • Excellence in data analysis and interpretation
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural and cross-functional teams
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Documentation, presentation and reporting skills
