In this role, you will be integrated in a multi-cultural "Advanced Polymer Characterisation Group", comprised of different experts, which aims to apply a multiscale polyolefin characterisation approach. You will maintain – but also further develop - the highest scientific level of competence in Spectroscopy and therefore contribute substantially to a step-change in innovation.

In your role you will:

  • understand the needs of the business and with this know-how, drive the development of new methods for Spectroscopy characterization of polyolefins, specifically by means of IR, NMR and RAMAN
  • adapt and further develop existing test methods
  • work in a multidisciplinary environment and solve challenging analytical problems, together with experts from other fields (e.g., rheology, chromatography, fractionation, electrical and mechanical properties, etc.)
  • lead, coach and coordinate the tasks of lab personal
  • actively consult with and support R&D labs, QC labs, plants, Intellectual Property Rights Department and external customers
  • be integrated and contribute with your expertise in multiple R&D strategic projects
  • build and maintain internal and external networks as well as state-of-the-art material characterization knowledge

Your knowledge, skills and experience:

  • PhD in Physics, Polymer Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Polymer Processing
  • Several years of industry experience on Polymer Spectroscopy
  • Very good knowledge on IR, NMR (solid state, liquid state and melt state) and RAMAN
  • Very good knowledge of the English language
  • Established and maintained relevant external partnerships and networks with industry leaders and leading universities on the area of Spectroscopy
  • Published publications or patents within the field of Polymer Spectroscopy
  • Knowledge on IT, Data Analysis and Statistics (C-programming and Linux are a bonus)
  • Customer orientation and service minded
  • Innovative, creative and analytical thinking
  • Open to new tasks and cases

Following Austrian law regulations, we offer, reflecting your experiences, skills and competencies, competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 61.168,- annual gross salary (based on 38 hrs/week) and are willing to pay more based on your experience and background. In addition, we offer a yearly bonus and a voluntary company pension plan.
