Process simulation with focus on computational fluid mechanics and reaction kinetics becomes increasingly relevant for Borealis. Therefore, we offer a job opportunity in process simulation as integrated member of the Modelling & Simulation team at our Innovation Headquarter in Linz, Austria. For Innotech, you will scientifically support defined project needs by applying process know how and advanced computational methodologies. Moreover, you are asked to further strengthen modelling capabilities for Borealis core technologies. Therefore, a close co-operation within Innotech and the Winning Triangle is vital. For Borealis Operations, you will actively apply process simulation methodologies in operational support. The timeframe of above projects may range from serval days (improvement of existing equipment) to years, when it comes to strategic projects on Borealis core technologies.

You will become a member of cross-functional teams, working in close co-operation with Innotech, Operations as well as with universities and research institutes. We look for a talented individual with a strong background in the field of process engineering, computational fluid mechanics and reaction kinetics.  

Contribution

  • He/she applies, maintains and further develops the methodologies in the fields of process simulation.
  • He/she provides support for Borealis Operations and Innotech projects
  • He/she maintains and develops procedures and routines for the simulation of Borealis core technologies
  • He/she publishes latest innovation in agreement with IPR and Innotech in his/her field of expertise.
  • He/she actively maintains a close internal and external network with universities, research institutes and software supplier   

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • ideally Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, in case of master education, 5+ year experience in relevant fields
  • Excellent knowledge in computational fluid mechanics and reaction engineering
  • Excellent knowledge in Borealis process technologies and testing facilities
  • Excellent knowledge in numerical methods
  • Good knowledge in polymer and base chemicals’ value chain
  • Good communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English

Other information

This position reports to the Modelling & Simulation Manager and is a full-time position at our location in Linz, Austria. We offer a competitive compensation based on the collective labour agreement chemical industry starting at EUR 59.156,16 annual gross salary.
