Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilizers, and Webster Vienna Private University, the Vienna Campus of the worldwide Webster University network, announce the establishment of the Borealis Scholarships endowment. The scholarship and grant package is the most extensive in Webster Vienna’s 35-year history.

The Borealis Scholarships endowment aims to motivate and reward Webster Vienna’s top academic achievers while at the same time enabling them to concentrate fully on their studies by easing the financial burden of tuition. Borealis will fund three different kinds of scholarships to be awarded over the next five years.

  • One need-based Borealis Social Scholarship will provide full tuition coverage for four full years to one incoming freshman.
  • Three merit-based Borealis Excellence Grants will be awarded in the next three consecutive academic years to undergraduate students having earned a perfect grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 in their freshman year at Webster. These scholarships provide full tuition coverage for the students’ next three years and are contingent upon continued summa cum laude performance by recipients.
  • Three top-performing undergraduate students in three consecutive academic years will receive merit-based Borealis Excellence Awards each to partially cover the cost of tuition fees.“

At Borealis, excellence is more than a buzzword. Establishing the Borealis Scholarships endowment at Webster Vienna to reward excellence is practicing what we preach,” explains Mark Garrett, Borealis Chief Executive. “We welcome this opportunity to use the Borealis Social Fund to enable top students – regardless of financial background or family income level – to dedicate themselves to getting a world-class education with less financial worries.

”Borealis’ endowment is a wise investment but even more, a great inspiration to all of us at Webster. We extend our thanks to Borealis for their generosity,” says Prof. Bernd Marin, Webster Vienna Private University Director. “We are pleased that our top-performing students have such an extraordinary opportunity to receive recognition for their hard work. The Borealis Social Grant in particular is a true milestone for our institution, and the entire Webster community looks forward to congratulating the deserving recipient.”

Part of the global Webster network, Webster Vienna Private University first opened its doors to students in Austria in 1981. Fully accredited in both Austria and the U.S., Webster Vienna offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes as well as certificate programmes.
