Borealis joins Together for Sustainability to enhance sustainability in its supply chain

Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilizers, announces that it has joined Together for Sustainability (TfS), a chemical industry initiative to assess and improve sustainability practices in the global supply chain. The initiative supports and promotes the principles of the UN Global Compact and Responsible Care.

TfS enables its members to collaborate in implementing sustainable procurement in the individual member companies, by sharing the results of supplier audits and assessments performed by independent experts. These cover key areas of sustainable business practice including environmental impact, health and safety, labour and human rights, management and governance. The audits and assessments benefit both members and suppliers, who only need to go through the process once and avoid multiple assessments by different customers.

“Joining TfS demonstrates the importance of sustainable procurement to Borealis,” says Borealis CEO Mark Garrett. “Increasing regulation and customer demand, combined with the legal and reputational risks of supply chain issues, mean we must continue to enhance standards across the supply chain. TfS helps us to do this cost effectively, while advancing our own sustainability.”

“In TfS, we are closely working together and pursuing common objectives: improving sustainability practices and building resiliency in the supply chains of the chemical industry,” says Rüdiger Eberhard, Senior Vice President, Head of Procurement (CPO) Evonik Industries and TfS President. “We are happy to welcome Borealis as our 20th TfS member, further strengthening our group.”
