Borouge today announced the appointment of Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri as Chief Executive Officer Designate of Abu Dhabi Polymers Co Ltd, the Borouge Production Company. Borouge is a joint venture established in 1998 between Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri formally takes over on October 1, 2007 from Mr Harri Bucht, who has served as CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers Limited since March 2002. Mr Al Hajri is based in Abu Dhabi and is appointed to realise the company's value creation through innovation strategy and successful implementation of the Borouge 2 expansion.
Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri will assume leadership and responsibilities of Borouge's production company from Mr Harri Bucht, who has steered the company through the past five and a half years of strong performance following the successful start-up of Borouge operations in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates in 2001.
Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri brings with him 20 years of experience in production and management of production facilities projects. He most recently held the position of Assistant General Manager, Technical in Gasco, one of the ADNOC Group of Companies.
Harri Bucht said: "Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri has a strong record in a range of management positions in various areas of manufacturing. I am confident that he is an excellent fit to lead the production company as Borouge now enters a new phase in its evolution with the Borouge 2 expansion."
The Borouge 2 expansion will triple the capacity to two million tonnes by 2010 and produce polypropylene for the first time, and the early works to prepare the site for the expansion are underway.
Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri comments: "Harri Bucht has built up the Abu Dhabi Polymers company into a very highly regarded and leading producer of polyolefins with an unrivalled footprint in the region. I am honoured to be given the challenge of continuing to build on its success."
Mr Harri Bucht will join Borealis in its Middle East/Asia office in Abu Dhabi as Borealis Vice President focusing mainly on new business developments in the region.
Borouge expresses its appreciation to Mr Bucht for his leadership and contributions and is pleased to welcome Mr Abdul Aziz Abdulla Al Hajri as the new CEO of Abu Dhabi Polymers.
