Borealis, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions and base chemicals, announces that with effect from March 1, 2009, Hubert Puchner has been appointed as Managing Director of the fully-owned subsidiary AMI Agrolinz Melamine International GmbH (AMI), while still retaining his post as Vice President for Marketing and Sales of all nitrogen products within the Borealis Group. Hubert Puchner is working for Borealis for many years and joined AMI in 2007.

Herbert Willerth, Deputy Chief Executive of Borealis AG, is taking over the additional responsibility for Borealis' Base Chemicals business group on an interim basis as well as Chairman of the AMI Supervisory Board.

Günther Tappeiner, the Head of Technology and Production at AMI, has left the company, as has Martin Kuzaj, Managing Director of AMI and a member of the Borealis Board.

Borealis is currently the melamine market leader in Europe and a leading provider of plant nutrients in the Danube region. Melamine and plant nutrients are produced in Linz, Austria, and melamine in Piesteritz, Germany.
