Borealis announces the appointment of Katja Tautscher (49) as Senior Vice President Legal and Compliance as well as Human Resources (ad interim), effective 1 March 2021.

Katja started her career with Borealis in 2008 as General Counsel. In 2014, she extended her responsibilities by assuming the position of Chief Legal and Procurement Officer, and successfully led and further developed the Borealis Legal team, serving as a role model for balancing good governance with business requirements. She also took on the additional challenge of leading and transforming the Borealis Procurement function towards highly skilled category management utilising the strengths of advanced digital solutions.

Katja Tautscher acts as a Board member of several Borealis subsidiaries, joint venture boards and audit committees. She has been a member of the Borealis Executive Committee since January 2020. Most recently, in February 2021, she was appointed as Vice President HR ad interim in addition to her role as Chief Legal Officer.

Prior to joining Borealis, Katja gained profound legal expertise at top-tier law firms and a US-based NASDAQ-listed global leader in the entertainment and lottery industries. She is an Austrian citizen and holds an MBA from Insead, an LL.M (Master of Laws) from London School of Economics (LSE) and a Master’s degree in law from University of Vienna, Austria. In addition, she is licensed to practise as an attorney in Austria, and as a solicitor in England and Wales.

“For many years, Katja has demonstrated strong leadership, expertise and excellent commercial understanding,” comments Borealis CEO Alfred Stern. “In this new position she will continue leading and developing the Borealis Legal and Compliance functions, thereby ensuring good governance. In Katja we have a strong ambassador who will ensure that the people and culture side of Borealis receives the attention it deserves as we continue to progress as a company.”
