Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilizers, announces the appointment of Maria Ciliberti to the position of Vice President (VP) Marketing and New Business Development, Polyolefins, effective 11 July 2016. Maria Ciliberti joins Borealis directly from Celanese Europe BV in Amsterdam, where she had served as Vice President Sales - Europe, Middle East and Africa for one year after having held the position at Celanese GmbH in Germany since 2012. Maria Ciliberti first joined Ticona Engineering Polymers, a business unit of Celanese, in 2005. She has also held various senior positions at Composite Technologies and Owens Corning (both located in Michigan, US); and General Electric Plastics (in The Netherlands and in Michigan).
A native of the United States, Maria Ciliberti, began her career in polyolefins at The Dow Chemical Company in 1989 after earning back-to-back degrees from The Ohio State University of Columbus, Ohio: a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (1985), and a Master of Business Administration (1989). Maria Ciliberti is married with four sons.

Borealis offers a wide range of base chemicals, including melamine, phenol, acetone, ethylene, propylene, butadiene and pygas, servicing a wide range of industries. Borealis also creates real value for the agricultural industry, selling approximately 5 million tonnes of fertilizers. Technical nitrogen and melamine products complement the portfolio with applications ranging from mono-nitrogen oxide (NOx) abatement to glues and laminates in the wood working industry.
