Borealis, a leading provider of innovative solutions in the fields of polyolefins, base chemicals and fertilizers, announces that the Borealis Group has received the coveted “Gold CSR” (Corporate Social Responsibility) status awarded by EcoVadis, an international provider of business sustainability ratings. Borealis also performed among the top one percent of all suppliers assessed in the most recent round of EcoVadis Supplier Sustainability Ratings completed in 2018.
CSR Gold and among the Top 1% overall
Since 2007, EcoVadis has been compiling sustainability scorecards for nearly 50,000 companies in around 190 different sectors. In participating in the EcoVadis CSR assessment process, Borealis is joining an illustrious group of leading multinationals in 150 different countries.
The EcoVadis Supplier Sustainability Rating system assesses a wide range of CSR indicators in core thematic areas such as the environment, labour practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Borealis received a Gold CSR rating – its fifth to date – in the most recent ratings round completed in September 2018. In the categories of “labour practices” and “overall,” Borealis was ranked in the top one percent of all suppliers in the category of base chemicals and fertilizers. It was also ranked among the top one percent “overall” for all participating companies in this round of ratings, the first time it has achieved this distinction.
“Ensuring a responsible supply chain is important to Borealis and our customers value our attention to sustainable procurement,” says Craig Halgreen, Borealis Director Sustainability & Public Affairs. “While we are honoured to have won the EcoVadis Gold CSR rating once more, it is even more remarkable to have reached the top one percent overall, among all suppliers. This achievement affirms that we are on the right path when it comes to achieving maximum levels of sustainability in our operations and across our supply chain.”
