Borealis scientist appointed to Giulio Natta Award’s Scientific Committee

Thanks to the outstanding reputation of Borealis' polyolefins research and development programme, the Giulio Natta Award's Scientific Committee has appointed Gunilla Herrgård, Chief Scientist for polyolefins research and development, as an official member.

The Giulio Natta Award is named after Professor Giulio Natta who won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1963 for the discovery of polypropylene (PP), which opened a new era for plastics products. The prize is awarded to a senior researcher whose scientific activity contributed substantially to improving our quality of life and left a significant mark on society.

Gunilla Herrgård's first official task was to hand over the Giulio Natta Award to Prof. Dr. Dykman, whose inventions and proceedings have nation-wide value and are aimed at developing and perfecting technology industrial processes for production of isoprene, phenol and acetone. This year's award ceremony took place at the University of Ferrara, in Italy, on May 17, where former Professor Natta carried out most of his experiments at the Centro Ricerche.

The Scientific Committee is composed of accomplished researchers from around the world who are responsible for deciding which scientists are qualified and deemed deserving of the award.
