Together, we can keep the loop going—clean, reused, and ready for the next round. Join the circular revolution at K 2025! Every cup you re-use is part of a bold step toward a waste-free future.
Messe Düsseldorf will use reusable cups at all restaurants and bars throughout K 2025.

At K 2025, the World´s No.1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber, a groundbreaking sustainability initiative is being launched. For the first time, Messe Düsseldorf will implement a comprehensive reusable cup system across all restaurants and bars at the event. This pilot project is powered by Borealis’ advanced foamable polypropylene based on OMV’s ReOil® chemically recycled feedstock, setting a new benchmark for circularity at large-scale exhibitions.
Cups will be rinsed on-site and returned to circulation, while any disposed of in general waste will be collected and recycled. Unused cups will be donated for further use.
To support reuse, Messe Düsseldorf will install special collection bins on the whole fairground.

Messe Düsseldorf
Driving Sustainable Event Practices
Messe Düsseldorf is leading the charge in reducing waste at major events by introducing reusable cups at K 2025. This marks the first time the venue has adopted a comprehensive reuse system, aligning with its broader sustainability strategy. The initiative supports the goals of the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and reflects Messe Düsseldorf’s commitment to practical, scalable solutions that reduce environmental impact.
Borealis: Delivering High-Performance, Circular Materials
K 2025: Hall 6, Stand A43
Borealis is supplying modified foamable polypropylene specifically designed for reusable and recyclable cup applications. The material is lightweight, durable, and fully recyclable, offering a lower carbon footprint and reduced material use compared to traditional alternatives. This innovation enables the creation of cups that are not only functional and attractive but also aligned with circular economy principles.
OMV: Supplying ReOil®
Chemically Recycled Feedstock
OMV contributes to the initiative through its proprietary ReOil® technology, which converts end-of-life plastics into circular feedstock. This feedstock is used in the production of the polypropylene material for the cups. Operated at OMV’s Schwechat refinery in Austria, ReOil® supports the transition to sustainable base chemicals and ensures a reliable supply of circular materials for the plastics industry.
Bockatech
EcoCore® foam injection molding technology
Bockatech contributed its EcoCore® foam injection molding technology, which allows for the production of ultra-lightweight and durable plastic cups. This technology reduces material use while maintaining strength and insulation, making the cups ideal for repeated use and recycling.
MCC Global IML
K 2025: Hall 5, Stand B37
MCC Global IML supplied in-mold labels that are fully recyclable with the cup material. These labels enhance the visual appeal and functionality of the cups while supporting circularity by eliminating the need for separate label removal during recycling.
Miko Pac
Plastic food packaging expertise
Miko Pac, a member of the Faerch Group, brought its expertise in plastic food packaging to the project, helping to optimize the cup design for hygiene, usability, and compliance with food safety standards. Their contribution ensures that the cups meet the highest quality requirements for food service applications.
