Borouge awards contracts to Tecnimont for Borouge 3

Borouge has awarded the three main contracts for the FEED stage of its Borouge 3 expansion in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi to Tecnimont (Maire Tecnimont Group). This includes the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of the multiple polyolefin units, the LDPE (low density polyethylene) unit and the utilities and offsite facilities. This milestone announcement follows the recent selection of Bechtel as the project management support for Borouge 3. The FEED-stage will have a duration of approximately nine months.

Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions for the infrastructure, automotive and advanced packaging markets, is expanding its annual production capacity of polyolefins in Abu Dhabi to 4.5 million tonnes by the end of 2013.

Borouge is a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, and Borealis, a leading provider of chemical and plastics solutions.

Tecnimont (Maire Tecnimont Group) is an international EPC Contractor operating in Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Oil & Gas, Power, Civil Engineering and Infrastructure.
