Construction is already well underway, with AKVA group’s skilled technicians diligently assembling the hull using our BorSafe™ polyethylene PE100-RC, valued for its robustness and durability. This version of the grade is produced using the Bornewables™ feedstock, which contains 90% renewable content calculated using a mass balance approach. This material ensures the boat can withstand the harshest marine saltwater environments—while also reducing CO₂ emissions by an estimated 1.9 kg for every kilogram produced compared to fossil-based equivalents.
And that’s just part of the story. The flat base of the boat, known as the sheet, is supplied by another Borealis customer, Röchling Industrial. Produced using BorSafe™ HE3490-LS—also based on the Bornewables feedstock—the sheet is sold under Röchling’s BioBoom® brand, which promotes the use of bio-plastics to reduce reliance on fossil resources. In Norway, deliveries are managed by Röchling’s partner Astrup, who ensures that ISCC PLUS compliance is maintained through to the end of the chain of custody.
With both the hull and base made from Bornewables-based materials, the Polarcirkel boat reflects a shared commitment across the value chain to innovation and sustainability.
Designed to endure the harshest environments on Earth—from the frigid Arctic to the scorching tropics—these boats are celebrated for their remarkable durability. Now, thanks to our innovative renewable materials, they continue to deliver high performance but with a significantly lower carbon footprint.
Join us at K Fair 2025 to witness the future of sustainable marine innovation with the Polarcirkel boat from AKVA group.
Set sail for innovation!
