We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Gold Medal in the latest annual EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) rating, increasing our score from 73 last year to 81 this year. This prestigious recognition places us in the top 5% of companies in terms of sustainability and reflects our unwavering commitment to CSR.
"This improvement in the EcoVadis rating underscores the progress Borealis is making in its ambition to transform the polymer industry. Improving recyclability and carbon footprint across the value chain is central to how Borealis serves its customers," says Borealis CEO Stefan Doboczky.
EcoVadis is a globally trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, its sustainability assessment methodology is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of Sustainability/CSR into their business and management system. The methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000. The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable sourcing.
Leading by example is an important part of our commitment to sustainability. To this end, we participate in Together for Sustainability (TfS) - a chemical industry initiative for sustainable supply chains. TfS promotes sustainable sourcing practices by providing a platform for member organizations to share the results of supplier audits and sustainability performance assessments.
