The Brazilian team is constantly expanding and advancing the Borealis product portfolio by providing innovative material solutions to replace conventional engineered plastics, steel, aluminium and even wood.
As a result, despite generally tumultuous market conditions due to the Covid pandemic, Borealis Brasil has been able to fulfil unprecedented customer demand for its innovative products in the first quarter of 2021. Borealis Brasil, whose customers are found primarily in the automotive and appliance industries, is currently the second biggest polypropylene (PP) compound producer in South America.
“These ongoing and major investments in our Itatiba operations signal our dedication to expanding our production and sales footprint in South America. Our aim is to become the innovative, circular and reliable supplier of choice to our local partners.”- Eide Garcia, Managing Director Borealis South America
Local Borealis technical and commercial teams are made up of highly qualified experts eager to support their customers in any way they can when it comes to developing innovative new products and bringing them to market. The Borealis Brasil product development team puts its specially-equipped laboratory and pilot plant structure to work in developing new types of PP compound applications. In the energy and infrastructure segment for example, these include switches and plugs, but also cable ties, stripes and boxes.
Borealis Brasil serves its South American automotive customers with, among other things, local development centre, innovative circular economy solutions made of our Borcycle (TM) brand; air filter housing materials made of hybrid PP compounds (PP/talc/ glass fibre); pedal housings made of PP GF 50; and novel material solutions for exterior mirror structures.
