Borealis and Borouge Showcase Innovation and Commitment to the Pipe Industry at PPXXII

At the 22nd Plastic Pipes Conference (PPXXII) held from September 15 to 17, 2025, we at Borealis and Borouge reaffirmed our nearly 60-year commitment to the infrastructure pipe industry. Held in Warsaw, Poland, this global event brought together industry leaders to explore sustainable solutions, technological innovations, and long-term performance in plastic piping.

Since 1967, we’ve been a trusted partner in the infrastructure sector, delivering high-quality polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) pipe solutions. Our materials are engineered for durability and long service life—often exceeding 100 years—making them ideal for drinking water, gas, industrial applications, cable protection, and waste water management.

Accepted presentations that shaped the dialogue

Our experts contributed to the technical program with insightful presentations on long-term material performance, sustainability, and standardization. The following papers were accepted by PPXXII and presented at the conference:

Borealis

  • Opening presentation on Advancing Sustainability in the Plastic Pipe Industry: Strategies for Circular Solutions and CO₂ Reduction (Yazgan Mete, co-presented together with Zoran Davidovski from Pipelife, a solution brand of wienerberger)
  • Sustainable Polyolefin Feedstock for Various Pipeline Projects (Yazgan Mete)
  • Investigation of a PP-RCT Pipe After 5 Years Use with 95 °C Hot Water (Olle Persson)
  • Chlorine Resistance Testing of Hot Cold Water Pipes – A 30 Year Review and New Challenges (Stefan Dreckoetter)

Borouge

  • The Use of HDPE Corrugated Pipes in Microtunneling (Ioannis Inepekoglou)
  • PE100 Material Supports Sea Water Cooling Project in Jazan – Saudi Arabia (Ioannis Inepekoglou)
  • 25 Years of Collaborative Efforts to Support the PE100 Pipe Industry (Suleyman Deveci for PE100+ Association)
  • Evaluation of the Hydro-Axial Stress Rupture Test for PE100 Butt Fusion Joints (Suleyman Deveci)
  • International Round-Robin Testing Of Non-Destructive Test Methods For Polyethylene Butt Fusion Joints (Suleyman Deveci)
  • The 100-Year Lifetime of PE100/PE100RC Pipes – An Industry Association's Perspective (Suleyman Deveci for PE100+ Association)

In addition to our own contributions, we also participated in a number of papers presented by our customers and value chain partners, reflecting the strength of our collaborations and the shared drive for progress across the pipe industry. By sharing our expertise and learning from others, we continue to drive progress toward a more sustainable future for infrastructure.

We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with the global plastics community and remain committed to pushing boundaries through innovation, collaboration, and purpose.
