The world needs more energy. By 2030, it is projected that global energy demand will grow by more than 50% whilst more than 1.4 billion people will have no access to electricity at all. Massive investments will have to be made to modernise existing power grids and secure energy supplies worldwide.
Lack of access to energy has a big impact on society's productivity, health, and education as well as on climate change. Without energy there is no food, no water and no communication services. Although energy intensive in their production, innovative plastics help save energy over their lifetime. In fact, seven times more energy is saved during the use and through the recovery of plastics than is required to produce them.
